OK. I know what you're thinking — just what exactly is Harmony University? Well, here's the official work from the Barbershop Harmony Society:

What it is is a week-long total immersion in singing, directing, arranging, and theory classes put on by the Barbershop Harmony Society every summer at Western Missouri University in St. Joseph, MO. This week more than 600 men and women from all walks of life gather together to celebrate the wonderful hobby in which they participate, singing barbershop music.

If you're never heard a barbershop quartet or a barbershop chorus, I encourage all of you to find one near you and at least go to see and hear them perform. I promise you, once you do, you'll be hooked.

I'll be posting updates daily with pictures and videos from my week at Harmony University. Maybe you can get a feel for what it's like to sing barbershop.
