At The Luau
Randy Martin
We went to the luau at the Sheraton Friday night. It was supposed to be on the beach, but the weather was acting up, and they didn't want to take any chances. So, the luau was in one of the ballrooms.
The food was pretty good — kalua pig, kobe beef, chicken mahi mahi, all kinds of vegetables and fresh fruits, several different deserts. And, it was an open bar, so all the Mai Tai's you could consume.
The entertainment was non-stop and really, really good. The band was excellent. The dancers were superb. The MC was funny. All in all, it was a great evening. I must tell you that the Polynesian women may be the most beautiful women in the world! And Carolyn will tell you that the men aren't bad, either.
The hula is perhaps the most fluid, sensual, exotic dancing I've ever seen. The dancers are very graceful, and most of them have been studying hula since they were two or three years old. Carolyn and I just kept looking at each other and saying, "How do they move their hips like that?"
Here's a slideshow of a very few pictures of the luau. I took mostly videos, and I don't if I'll have time to get them posted during the trip, but I'll definitely get them online when I get back. They are really spectacular!
We went to Waimea canyon today (Saturday), and I'll try to get the pictures up tomorrow. It was absolutely breathtaking!!!
More to come…
